You're pretty likely to meet lots of Eastern-Europeans too - mostly peeps from former-Yugoslavia and Ukrainians - as well as many other nationalities. If you're dead set on meeting native English-speakers, the obvious choice is to go to one of the Irish pubs on a Thursday, Friday, or Saturday night. EB has some great pointers for you there, can't say I agree with him on all of them but none the less, all good advice and different opinions. Kultfabrik , as someone suggested is good if you wanna meet lots of youngs pissed up idiots and get your handbag stolen.
Irish bars, as Jonny English points out is only good for "professional pissheads", which I'd disagree with, BUT, JE in my experience only from TT, never met him is a good bloke with good advice. Everyone has a different opinions and no one is right or wrong. Best thing I'd suggest is actually go to some TT events where the range of people is wide and varied.
You'll meet some great people you'll want to meet again and maybe some you won't, but you may be able to glean some information about Munich and decide for yourself. I go to Irish bars often enough, but not as often as I used to. There's loads of places, just best to turn up and see for yourself. The German American Business Association and the American Association of University and Professional Women might be good places to start for professional and social networking in Munich.
Obviously, the second group has no male members, but the more people you know generally, the more likely it is that you'll also meet their contacts, who just might be professional, English-speaking, single males. I am in the same boat, I will be moving to munich from England in March and am 30yr old professional male. Is there any "common" place to meet nice English-speaking singles in Munich, or maybe Germans? Yes, yes, we all know about language courses and private parties. Had some great "situations" in the past. Why does it have to be a professional english-speaking person. Could it not be a normal one?
