Dating Sarah Cooper by Siera Maley
Siera Maley shows us how interesting the fake relationship trope can be if it is handled properly. What a great book! BEST fake-relationship book of ever, I swear.
Oh my god I'm so giddy it's ridiculous. HOW is it that I discovered this book only a few days ago? I'm usually not a big fan of coming out stories because I'm way past that point in my life and usually find it boring to read about teenagers. But this book was such a great surprise! A real feel-good story with sweet mature characters and a lovely romance and a happy ending and it makes me want to run around my house naked singing love songs!!
Dating Sarah Cooper deserves its average rating.

The st Oh my god I'm so giddy it's ridiculous. The story is really well written, very realistic, with angst that anyone could relate to strangely enough, I felt like the issue was more about falling in love with someone you think doesn't feel the same, than realising you're gay , and quite a lot of funny moments too!
I also kind of love the "best friends falling in love with each other" storyline I really will read it again. It was refreshing to read a teen story that was light, but not so light that it only scratched the surface. This book has real, believable and relatable emotions. It's also written in the first person Katie's POV but well enough that we understand what's going on in Sarah's head as well, and that's a hard thing to achieve with this kind of narration.
Katie and Sarah are best friends, and for some dumb reason they pretend to be a lesbian couple. That sounds way better than it is, actually. I just have to say that I loved Katie from the get go. The Katie and Sarah are best friends, and for some dumb reason they pretend to be a lesbian couple. The fact that they wanted the school to be a better place for non-straight kids was really adorable. I wish I had a group like that when I was in high school.

My favorite scene is when view spoiler [Katie and Sarah say that they actually love each other and want to be a real couple. Now, even though she gets better, I've had a problem with Sarah Cooper from the beggining. She is so annoying sometimes. I mean, I get that she evolves but, dude, can't you just be a little nicer? The things she says about lesbians at first got me SO pissed off. At least it shows how some people think about lesbian couples. Which gets me frustrated and really sad. Apart from that, I really liked this book, and I enjoyed the ending so much! I'm glad I finished it. Omg, more people should be talking about this book.
Very cute, happy ending, lots of The L Word references. View all 3 comments. I was thinking, somewhere near the end, that this seemed like more of a 4 something star book than a 5. If I had recalled and rejected whatever my initial thought was, I could happily mark this a five. Not counting the epilogue, the book ends roughly at that point as well. Including the epilogue it ends 2 weeks later. So — this book involves Sarah Cooper and Katie Hammontree, high school seniors in a small town in Georgia.
They are the kind of people you might spot who seem to always be connected at the hip. Have been since at least kindergarten. Though it can be misinterpreted by outsiders and, for that matter, those inside. Katie, while walking home from school, runs into this big jock guy who is bullying a fellow male student. Katie puts a stop to it. Jake, the kid who had been in the process of being bully-ed, has a severely bruised lip. Fast forward to about 30 seconds before the start of this unnamed club — Katie, Sarah and Jake are standing outside a door.
They stare at each other. Then Sarah gets this calculating look in her eyes okay, I might be making up that part, she did come up with a plan though. Sarah pulls Katie in and they meet the club. And so, the book unfolds from there. I figured that whatever it was that was holding me back from giving a five star rating would pop up and I could tackle it.
I liked Katie and Sarah. The plot was solid. There was enough of an end-story to fill me in. Maybe they could end up at college together? And yes, that did pop up in my mind — the fact that one, Katie, planned on going to a local college, and the other would be going to some further away place. You don't know how many teen lesbian books I've read that start out all cute and then end in disaster for no reason. But not this one! The main characters were adorable together and awesomely snarky and the side characters are just as lovable. Only prob I had was a few typos, but there weren't enough to detract from the story. Yes, the premise is basically Faking It, but it's executed so differently and SO m Tbh best lesbian rom-com-y book I've read in a long time! Jan 09, Yuri rated it it was amazing Shelves: I think I kind of lowered my expectations for books, but this one definitely brought them up. It's a really cute and funny story, and it is easy to read, which for me is like winning the lottery because English is my second language. I will absolutely re-read this, and I totally recommend for you to read it if you like happy endings. Apr 02, Julia rated it really liked it Shelves: And I didn't do anything!
I just loved another girl. I couldn't look away. There was something in her eyes I'd never seen before. They are flawed, and bad at Choices, so you feel for them, and get frustrated with them, and love them all the more for it. Clever meta is peppered all over it, and I love how Siera Maley never makes you doubt she will give us the happy ending we deserve. It's clear that it's written by a woman who loves women, it shows in a million little things. This book was a quick, easy read, that warmed my heart.

Also, shout out for not being afraid to use labels. This book doesn't shy from labels being helpful in self-identification, and how lgbtq people, as a community, can rely on each other. I appreciated all the little scenes of queer characters leaning on one another, even when they didn't have much in common. I can relate to that A Lot.

Girl meets girl, girls fall in love, and as far as I know, no one dies or goes back to men or gets pregnant, or any combination of the three. I'm determined to get my happy ending. Sarah nodded proudly and tucked the book into the bag hanging off her shoulder. It features both the fake dating trope and the best friends to lovers trope. It's funny, it's cute, and it's romantic. Characterization and proper arcs are not here at all the proofreader also seemed to take the day off and certain actions and inner monologues make little sense.
This also suffers from the problem of a very passive protagonist. Cute fluff and not much more. Nov 10, M. I can like girls; that's fine, but I don't want to get my heart broken. I'd like to like someone who will like me back, you know? So it was no surprise that I enjoyed this one as much as all the others. Dating Sarah Cooper is a story about two best friends who are confused as girlfriends by other people.

They decide to go with it after bei "I've seen enough movies to know what happens when you fall for your straight best friend. Of course, after a lot of pinning from each side, they end up having feelings for each other. This is a funny book with many incredible moments such as supportive parents and the whole 'oh, so kissing girls is actually nice!
But it also has a lot of meaning about figuring out your sexuality and how the world sees LGBT people. My experience so far hasn't been great, I find the stories lacking a lot the time, they are usually okay concepts but just not well executed. This book was a breath of fresh air, the characters were likeable and relatable. The story was engaging and exciting, the balance was just right, it didn't feel like I was reading a "lesbian lo So as an LGBT person I am always very skeptical about LGBT fiction, especially "lesbian love stories".
