This is mainly because COD style tactics apply. There is building top sniping. There are cheap tactics used by 8 year olds. Even using the grappling hook I find it hard to manage pilot on pilot play. One thing to try specifically for that is to use the pilot hover ability. It is surprisingly effective because it disrupts player targeting expectations and gives you en extra second or two.
Also, level up your weapons. Having all 4 mods equipped on a primary is a huge advantage. Still though, it does seem like level 5 pilots are way better at hand to hand combat than me. It seems that matchmaking would make more sense if it was based on kill: However unfair the pilot phase may seem, when Titanfall happens the odds even.
The same players dominating the first half generally are all twitch and don't have much ability in the way of tactics making them easy to pick off once they get their Titans. Once in a Titan, COD tactics don't apply as you can easily just ram pilots on the ground. If you are resorting to camping and still find the odds uneven, try a different Titan strategy.
That is where your easiest balance is. If you are a camper, try using Northstar to pick off Titans from a distance. Be advised though, staying put won't work for long and Northstar has the best mobility for a reason but at least you'll get the distance. Just a question for you: I'm horrible at pilot ground fighting, but I'm an ace Northstar pilot.
I rarely loose my Titan once I get it, and I usually take out at least 3 titans and often more like 5. Since Titans are worth twice the points of pilots, it would be like getting 10 pilot kills. In addition to that, I usually get an additional 2 or 3 pilot kills as a Titan too under the worst of circumstances.

Often I see myself outmatched on the ground and yet I get matchmaked with people that seem to really suck at piloting Titans, which seems too convenient to be a coincidence. I suspect that they match based on performance, the question is how that works.
You may also have unlocked the wrong items for sustainability with credits. I personally have got at least an average of an extra pilot kills per round by just switching to the pilot hover mod alone.

I got more titan kills per round after I switched to the battery backup. Both of those are relatively high rank unlocks which can be unlocked easily with credits.

There are similar unlocks that enhance stealth obtained in the same way. Now I do run into an occasional OP match. Allowing people to host their own servers to include anyone else not just friends would solve this pretty quickly. Make grind a lot more laid back aswell.

I completed the game and have played about 30 hours now quite enjoying Attrition and hard line domination.. I prefer the pilot combat though to using the Titans. Aug 20, Messages: I'm having issues with matchmaking chucking me in with high level players who are also just way better than I am.
Two nights ago I started playing and I had a relatively balanced night all attrition.

Last night I get on and get matched with nothing but high levels. I wouldn't complain about the level normally, I've seen that in matchmaking before, but I'm just getting shredded. It just takes all of the fun out of playingI won't kid anyone, I am not great at these games.
